Buddhist physical exercises

  • Kadampa Meditasjonssenter Oslo 26 Majorstuveien Oslo, 0367 Norway (map)
  • Many have asked if we Buddhists also have any physical exercises. We do! In this half-day course we will do two sessions of buddhist exercise to strengthen and purify both our body and our mind.

In this practise we recite the names of the '35 confession Buddhas' while we bend and stretch our whole body towards the Buddhas, also called 'prostrating'. This exercise has a special power to purify our negative karma.

After the prostrations we recite in accordance with tradition the short text called 'the Mahayana Sutra of the Three Superior Heaps'.

An explanation of the practice is given at the start of each session so that everyone can participate. One does not need to be Buddhist to attend this course. Everybody welcome.

  • Since purification is the root of future happiness and spiritual realizations we should strive to cleanse our mind of delusions and negative karma.

One of the best methods for purifying negativities and downfalls is the Mahayana Confession Sutra, otherwise known as the Sutra of the Three Superior Heaps, or The Bodhisattva’s Confession of Moral Downfalls.
