Because we were born, we will one day die. By understanding our own mortality, we can transform the way we live, learning to face death with courage, clarity, and even peace. This understanding also helps us to support others who are approaching death.
In this day course, Gen Kelsang Jangdom will guide us through Buddha’s teachings on death and lead practical meditations that help us prepare for death and live more meaningfully now. By reflecting on the certainty of death and the uncertainty of its time, we learn to let go of what is unimportant and focus on what truly matters. We will also briefly reflect on impermanence through the timeless reminder: “This too shall pass”—recognizing that every experience, emotion, and difficulty is in constant change.
During the course, you will learn:
How meditation on death brings clarity, calm, and meaning to life
How to reduce fear and worry by understanding mortality
How to support others who are facing death
